ROYAL TOUCH Art Comes To Life In Birmingham CATERING AND GIFT BASKETS Indian Images At Mesa Arts Mesa Arts will mount an exhibit of Indian images by Bill and Kathy Brewer through Jan. 31 at the Gallery. The Brewers, a Sioux In- dian couple, create fully authentic, individually hand- crafted, museum-quality reproductions of Plains In- dian artifacts. Each item is individually researched from the Brewers' photographs of actual, observed museum pieces and from documented articles in Indian reference sources. The painted deerhide wall- hangings, shields and sheaths are made of materials used by the Indians of the historic to reservation periods (circa 1830-1900). Natural animal ingredients are used to tan deer, elk, antelope, moose or buffalo hides. Real otter, er- mine and other proper furs are used for trim. Small, smooth marine shells from the northwest coast and other authentic shells are used; por- cupine quills are hand-dyed in the correct colors. Mesa Arts is located at 3288 Franklin Rd. Hours are Tues.-Fri. 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sat. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For informa- tion, call 851-9949.
