She was chosen along with 17 other teens in a magazine contest last summer. Tali is a Ferndale High School graduate and cur- rently a sophomore at the University of Michigan School of Art and Design. Among the innovations Tali introduced in the magazine issue was an emphasis on interracial and ethnic understanding. The cover features American, black American and Asian- American models. The com- mercialism of the holiday season was kept to a minimum at Tali's urging. Tali believes this was a unique experience because of the talented teens she worked with and the oppor- tunity for hands-on in- volvement in the publishing world. She states that more than 8,000 quilts have been distributed to primary care facilities and day-care centers with at-risk babies. COLLECTORS' CARROUSEL Sotheby's recently had an auction featuring the couture clothing of the Elizabeth Parke Firestone Collection, which was styled for the catalog by Sandy Schreier, a Southfield resi- dent and fashion historian.
