really in show business, and
I appreciate them very much.
At one point in my life I never
thought I could be a civilian
and enjoy the simpler things
in life. I was too busy running
about and living on kicks."
Sure, he admits, as he looks
back on his life, he has
regrets. "But I can't live my
life over again so I have to ac-
cept all the pluses and
minuses, the negatives and
the positives. The fact that
I'm alive and kicking today
and free of all chemicals and
drugs with no monkey on my
back is the greatest thrill of
all for me. I have wonderful
children and a wonderful life.
I love what I'm doing and I
come alive when I'm on stage,
so after all I've been through,
what else could I ask for?"
As for future plans and
dreams, Mr. Fisher says he
has none. "The realistic thing
is to live your life to its fullest
right now. I have a new RCA
record album coming out
soon, and there's talk of
Harry Connick Jr. doing my
life's story. I'd like to see it
done, but believe me, it's not
one of my dreams. lbday I live
one day at a time and am
grateful to be here to live that
one day.
"I think wisdom is probably
the very best thing I've ac-
quired since getting older," he
concludes. "In my case, I
think most of my life I was
very immature, and I would
like to think I'm now well on
my way to becoming a grown-
up." O
