Cellist Yuli Turovsky will
be featured soloist at a con-
cert marking the official
opening of the Allied Jewish
Campaign, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20
at Temple Beth El.
The concert by Ars Poetica
is an expression of gratitude
to the Jewish community for
welcoming Anatoli
Cheiniouk, the Ars Poetica
music director, to Detroit six
years ago, when he left the
USSR.
The entire community is in-

Calls Area Women

4,000 Detroit-area women
during the annual Phonogift
on behalf of the 1992 Allied
Jewish Campaign. Calls will
be made 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 12;
6-9 p.m. Jan. 14; and 3-6 and
6-9 p.m. Jan. 20 from the Max
M. Fisher Building of the
Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit.

Howard Stone

the Israeli government, he
joined the United Jewish Ap-
peal as director of the Young
Leadership Cabinet in 1971.
He later directed UJA's Over-
seas Programs. In the
mid-1980s, he worked with an
international coalition of
business and industrial
leaders to promote private in-
vestment in Israel's economy.
