Service: Friday 7:45 p.m. Deborah Dwork Adat Shalom Sets Program On Shoah The Adult Study Commis- sion of Adat Shalom Syna- gogue will sponsor an in- depth focus on the life of the Jewish family in Europe dur- ing the Holocaust. Titled "Life During the Shoah: Its Effects and Af- fects," the events will begin Jan. 10-12 with scholar-in- residence Deborah Dwork, author of Children With a Star. The weekend will also launch Adat Shalom's 10th annual film series, under the direction of Dan Greenberg. Dr. Dwork's primary work is in the history of children. She is concentrating on the experiences of children in Nazi Europe. Over a six-year period she recorded the oral histories of hundreds of now- adult child survivors in Europe and North America. The weekend will begin with a lunch-and-learn ses- sion 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Jan. 10. Professor Dwork will discuss "In the Footsteps of the Prophet Devorah: The Women's Resistance Net- work." There is a charge. On Jan. 11, Professor Dwork will speak during Shabbat morning services on "The Hidden Children." At 8 p.m. that evening she will lead a panel discussion titled "After the Shoah: Continuity and Discontinuity in the Lives of Child Survivors." All events will take place at Adat Shalom and are open to the community.
