Adat Shalom Sets
Program On Shoah

The Adult Study Commis-
sion of Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue will sponsor an in-
depth focus on the life of the
Jewish family in Europe dur-
ing the Holocaust.
Titled "Life During the
Shoah: Its Effects and Af-
fects," the events will begin
Jan. 10-12 with scholar-in-
residence Deborah Dwork,
author of Children With a
Star. The weekend will also
launch Adat Shalom's 10th
annual film series, under the
direction of Dan Greenberg.
Dr. Dwork's primary work
is in the history of children.
She is concentrating on the
experiences of children in
Nazi Europe. Over a six-year
period she recorded the oral
histories of hundreds of now-
adult child survivors in
Europe and North America.
The weekend will begin
with a lunch-and-learn ses-
sion 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Jan.
10. Professor Dwork will
discuss "In the Footsteps of
the Prophet Devorah: The
Women's Resistance Net-
work." There is a charge.
On Jan. 11, Professor
Dwork will speak during
Shabbat morning services on
"The Hidden Children." At 8
p.m. that evening she will
lead a panel discussion titled
"After the Shoah: Continuity
and Discontinuity in the
Lives of Child Survivors."
All events will take place at
Adat Shalom and are open to
the community. For reserva-
tions and information, call
the synagogue office,

Does Our Low $59 Eyeglass
Price Scare You?

How many times have you seen a low advertised eyeglass price, but when
you get to the store you find out that they have only 5 or 6 frames at that
price? We carry over 400 frames at each store, and the vast majority are
available at our $59 price. That's complete-including frames and single
vision, plastic lenses. In fact, instead of our prices going up when you get
here, our prices get even lower after you buy your first pair. A second pair,
purchased at the same time with the same prescription, is just $39! Most
bifocals are just $15 more.
