YOU SHOULDN'T EAT
EVERYTHING PUT IN
FRONT OF YOU.
You should avoid foods high in
cholesterol. Its a fact, a high
blood cholesterol level sub-
stantially increases your
chances of developing heart
disease. By cutting down on
fatty, rich foods, you can do
yourself a big favor. You could
lower your blood cholesterol
level and reduce your risk of
heart disease.
For more information about a
planned and balanced diet,
contact your American Heart
Association. We'll give you
some free advice on how to
plan a diet good for life.

The book begins when Mr.
Surowitz is 10 in 1924 and
how he accompanies his
father to the Eastern Market
by horse to purchase food he
will peddle in Hamtramck.
He reminisces about his bar
mitzvah and going to cheder
on Farnsworth Street with
Rabbi Ashinsky. He de-
scribes the old neighborhood
in detail from the colorful
characters like Mr.
Tankis of Tankis' Candy
Store to his childhood
friendships and homemade
games. His family memories
of his siblings are poignant.
It's interesting to note that
the Surowitz family were
friends with the Mitnicks,
who owned a poultry store.
Today the Mitnicks still sell
chickens. Branches of the
Mitnick family and the
Surowitz family live a few
houses away from each other
in West Bloomfield.
There's no doubt that
grandchildren Nancy,
Jenny, David, Amy, Josh,
Jeff and Allison have a
special book.
