Michigan Artist
Opens At Xochipilli
Michigan artist Doug
Warner will open an exhibit
of his newest paintings at
Xochipilli Gallery. A recep-
tion to meet Mr. Warner will
be held 2-5 p.m. Dec. 14. The
exhibit will run to Jan. 18.
Xochipilli Gallery is at 568
N. Woodward Ave., Birm-
ingham, and is open 11 a.m-5
p.m. daily, Tuesday through
Saturday.
Doug Warner, former chair-
man of the Fine Arts Division
of Mott College in Flint, has
resided and painted in
Michigan since 1957. During
the past decade, Mr. Warner
has explored rituals and lore
expressed through universal
symbols — Anasazi petro-
glyphs, Navajo planetaria,
the plains of Nazca, aerial
views of Stonehenge, the Big-
horn Medicine Wheel and
stellar charts. Each canvas is
etched with markings, built
up with rope of wood at-
tachments and glazed with
rich hues.
