wo local teen-agers
have roles in Shelley
Berman's play, First
Is Supper, a Jewish Ensem-
ble Theatre production
directed by Evelyn Or-
bach. Daniel Kahn and
Jaime Newman, both 13
and residents of Farmington
Hills, are performing in
their second JET production
in two years.
Daniel is an eighth-grade
student at Roeper City and
Country School. He studied
at Cranbrook Theater School
last summer. He plays the
role of Solly in First Is
Supper and appeared in an-
other JET production, A
Rosen By Any Other Name.
Jaime Ray Newman is
Rosey in First Is Supper.
She is an eighth-grade stu-
dent at Hillel Day School.
Last summer she attended
Interlochen Arts Camp and
has studied at the Actors Al-
liance Conservatory.
First Is Supper is a poig-
nant drama about an immi-
grant family adjusting to life
in Chicago in 1919. Some of
the problems faced by this
family relates to today's ge-
neration. The play will ap-
peal to teen-agers as well as
adults.
Performances begin Dec. 8
and continue through Dec.

Akiva Hebrew Day School
are creating Chanukah me-
norahs using household

items. Art teacher Barbara
Wool is supervising the
unique project. "We are
creating modern menorahs
all from items students could
fit into one garbage bag from
home," said Mrs. Wool.
Students are able to work in
teams or independently for
this two-week project.
Cheryl Miller brought in
a tin to use as a base and
metal tubing to hold the
candles. She is using colorful
clay to decorate the meno-
