Emil Spilman,
Metal Co. Founder

Emil (Ilie) Spilman, of West
Bloomfield, died Nov. 29. He
was 85.
An engineer turned
businessman, Mr. Spilman
came in 1928 to the United
States at the age of 22. He
worked his way through
University of Detroit and
later started Metropolitan
Metal Company, today
Metropolitan Alloys.
Mr. Spilman was on the
board of directors of Pisgah
Lodge, B'nai B'rith and the
Zionist Organization of
America. He was a member of
B'nai David Synagogue and
Temple Isaiah in Palm
Springs, Calif.
He is survived by his wife,
Bertha; sons and daughters-
in-law, Murray and Geraldine
of Farmington Hills, Gilbert
and Frances of West Bloom-
field; daughters and son-in-
law, Frances of West Bloom-
field, Rena and Bert Diamond
of North Hills, Calif.; 11
grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren.

Israel Klaymer
JCC Teacher

of
Klaymer,
Israel
Southfield, died Nov. 29. He
was 78.
A lawyer in Poland and
graduate of Wayne State
University, Mr. Klaymer was
the director of an orphanage
in Capetown, South Africa.
He was a major supporter of
JARC and taught "Love of
Learning" classes at the
Jewish Community Center.
He leaves his wife, Reva;
daughter, Leora of Brooklyn,
N.Y.; brother, Shmuel.
