that brought 14,000 Ethio-
pian Jews to Israel earlier
this year, also will deliver a
speech.

Deputy Foreign Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu, a fa-
miliar face on American
television, is scheduled to
address delegates Friday
afternoon.)
Attitudes among G.A.
delegates toward Israel's
handling of the peace pro-
cess vary widely, of course,
another indication of the
changes that have overtaken
Jewish life. The uncritical
support for Israeli govern-
ment policies once exhibited
by the American Jewish es-
tablishment has long since
been replaced by tough ques-
tioning, and sometimes
sharp criticism.
But no matter how much
disagreement with Mr.
Shamir and his policies is
expressed in private conver-
sation, don't expect
anything other than un-
qualified public support for
the Likud government's
handling of the negotiations
so far.
