Holds Meeting

Is Program Topic

newly-chartered
chapter of Friends of
Na'amat, the Tevye Sallen
Chapter, will hold their first
meeting 8 p.m. Nov. 20 at the
Crown Pointe building. Molly
Sallen will be presented with
the charter in memory of her
late husband Ted.
The elected officers for
1991-92 are: president, Aaron
Katzman; vice president, Sy
Kaplan and Leo Barris;
secretary, Alvin Sallen;
treasurer, Herman Ozrovitz;
membership, Dean Friedman
and Jack Tendler; goodwill,
Sid Milgrom and Sonny
Wagenberg; entertainment,

Wasser; fund-raising, Sy

The Na'amat liaison and ad-
viser is Frieda Leemon. The
speaker will be Isaac Lakritz,

American Technion Society;

present Dr. Raymond Tanter,
professor of political science
at the University of
Michigan, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20
at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Dr. Tanter will speak on
"Continuity and Change in
the Mideast." Dr. Tanter has
served as deputy director of
Behavioral Sciences Advanc-
ed Research Projects Agency
at the Department of Defense
and senior staff member for
Near East and South Asia at
the National Security
Council.

Hadassah House
Hosts Newcomers

The first meeting of the
Greater Detroit Jewish
Newcomers' Club will be 8
p.m. Nov. 18 at Hadassah
House.
The purpose of the group
will be to provide activities
and a meeting place for those
who recently moved into the
area and provide them the op-
portunity to welcome future
newcomers. The women will
plan their own programs.
Those wishing to attend, or
knowing a newcomer who

Hears Speaker

Travel tips for women will
be the focus of the Jewish
Community Center's
Womens' Group 3 p.m. Nov.
17 at the Jimmy Prentis Mor-
ris building.
Evelyn Mann, of Blue
Cross/Blue Shield's Senior
Services Unit, will speak. The
Women's Group offers a pro-
gram each month and the op-
portunity for women over the
age of 50 to become involved
in a social network of their
peers.

Set Donor Event

The Women of Jewish Na-
tional Fund will hold their
62nd annual donor event
noon Nov. 19 at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. The women
are striving to complete their
three-year campaign to build
an afforestation and recrea-
tional center in the Lahav
Forest near Beersheva, the
capital of the Negev, which
will include a series of recre-
ation sites, hiking trails and
observation points, at a cost of
$250,000.
The entertainment for
"Musical Treasures" will
feature Sidney Resnick,
baritone; Sadie Braver,
violinist; and Lillian
Zellman, pianist.
