possible, so how do you get off
a mailing list? . . . Why is it
when you're small and pink,
all the women cuddle you .. .
50 years later, when you real-
ly need it - NOTHING!
MAIL DEPT . . . from Bob
and Sue Rollinger of Farm-
ington Hills . . . "It is not
often that we write to tell you
about an unknown restau-
rant. The last time we did so
involved a little restaurant
called Giovanni's in Melvin-

dale. You were kind enough to
repeat our remarks in your
column. Ever since then, we
haven't been able to get a
table!
"However, we think that it
is time to let you know about
another little secret. This lit-
tle gem is called Shanghai
Dining located at 7622
Highland Road in Waterford.
It is on M-59 and Williams
Lake Road. The owners and
cooks are Michael G. Xi and
Donna Dang who run the
restaurant and do all of the
cooking.
"Michael has a wealth of
experience. I learned that he
has been the chef at the Pek-
ing House in Royal Oak and
also previously worked at a
Chinese restaurant in Sterl-
ing Heights and one in
Rochester, as well.
"I am enclosing a copy of
the carry-out menu that I
picked up on my way out.
What it lacks is a description
of the gourmet Chinese food
which Michael prepares. I
highly recommend his fish
and vegetarian dishes.
"The restaurant is not
located too far for your
readers. We believe they will
find the ride worthwhile
because the food is delicious
and truly outstanding."
ONE OF THE area's top
nightclub acts is currently an
informal weekly one-nighter.
The combination of co-
owner Sam Locricchio and
Sandra Mandrella that is
together every Saturday even-
ing at Arriva, Van Dyke west
of 12 Mile, is a most
stimulating adventure . . .
One can tell that both have a
lot of professionalism in their
poise and presentation . . .
and small wonder so many
people go to see them.
Sam and Sandra worked
together from 1971 to 1979
when their Lorio group of
three guys and a gal did a lot
of Las Vegas and recorded the
hit "Lorio" album.
They do their easy-going
duet in front of the six-foot
baby grand piano and its
computer-tape background
. . . Folks enjoy much show biz
experience to go with their
cute antics, fine voices and
composure . . . Clever
repartee between songs helps
an even flow to their act as
they sing "Making Whoopie"
with distinctive types of
voices and styles, or a big
band background tape while
Sam lip-syncs perfectly to
Frank Sinatra singing "You
Make Me Feel So Good" com-
plete with gestures and ex-
pressions . . . or Sandra solo-
ing on "It Had To Be You"
and then Sam joining in with
his solo of "Let's Get Away
From It All." ❑
