Photos To Show
Operation Solomon

A photographic exhibit
depicting last May's dramatic
airlift of 14,500 Ethiopian
Jews from Addis Ababa to
Israel will be on display Nov.
18-Dec. 15 at the United
Hebrew Schools building in
Southfield.
Comprised of 15 large
black-and-white photos, the
exhibit shows scenes from
Operation Solomon, the
historic rescue which brought
most of the Ethiopian Jewish
community to Israel. About
2,000 Jews still remain in
Ethiopia.
The photos were commis-
sioned by the United Jewish
Appeal, coordinator of the ex-
hibit. Besides Detroit, the
photos will be seen in cities
throughout the U.S. and
Canada.
The exhibit was brought to
Detroit by the Jewish Federa-
tion of Metropolitan Detroit.
Admission is free.

City Of Hope
Presents Award

The Detroit Metropolitan
Council for City of Hope Na-
tional Medical Center will
present the 1991 Spirit of Life
Award to Owen Bieber, presi-
dent of the International
Union, United Automobile,
Aerospace and Agricultural
Implement Workers of
America 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at
the Westin Hotel.
Dinner proceeds will
benefit City of Hope National
Medical Center. For informa-
