pool, it is a large fully-functional pool,
designed and built by Jack Roberts
Pool Company. The surrounding pool
area, with its nonskid cream oversized
tile, and the adjacent exercise
room/bar area were designed by
Winton-Feinberg. "My husband said
he would never build a home without
an indoor pool, because of
Michigan's winters," says the owner.
"We basically use it for exercise, but
every time I turn around, we have
people. My kids and grandchild are
here a lot, all year round."
Upstairs are four guest rooms and
children's rooms. While the Japanese
design was not carried on upstairs,
the grandeur was. "Each room is like
a master suite," says Ms. Winton-
Feinberg.

sumptuous, with luxurious bedding

The sleek European-style
kitchen has two sinks,
two dishwashers and
three ovens.

areas, walk-in closets and private
baths. For the son who is away at
college, a masculine room in black
and taupe fits the bill. A guest room
is peach and white, feminine, floral,
"ethereal" as Ms. Winton-Feinberg
puts it. A daughter who lives out-of-
town has a peach and teal room, with
white accents. Soft and comfortable,
it looks as if it were captured in
colonial Bombay. Its accompanying
bath has soft peach marble counters.
The last bedroom is black and ivory,
with cream moire wallpaper,
plantation shutters and a transitional
feel.
Referring to this Japanese oasis in
Michigan, Ms. Winton-Feinberg says,
"The owner was secure enough to
know how she would like to live and
entertain, and what she wanted."
Says the owner, "She crea -te-cl for
me what is me."
And the results reflect this
symbiotic harmony in true Oriental
