by Scott. Stitching creates a striped

brass torchieres by Jazz. French doors
lead out to the deck that wraps itself

The first floor master bedroom con-
tinues the Japanese contemporary
theme. A four-poster black lacquer
bed commands your attention. A
Japanese-style black built-in across
from the bed houses the TV. A Maya
Romanoff paper, subtle and soft in a
grey/mauve with black flecks, covers

"The bed fabric is what started the
bedroom," says Ms. Winton-Feinberg.

mauve background with a black and
taupe pattern and is quilted to follow
the pattern. Gentle and elegant, it
looks almost like a black pearl
dropped in a mauve sea, with water
rippling behind. The spread, bed
base and headboard are upholstered
in the fabric, as are two accent chairs
in front of the bed.
A sitting area has a small couch in
a black and mauve herringbone
chenille and textured black linen
linear tables. A black lacquer writing
table has chairs that match the sofa.
There is also an office off of the
master bedroom for the husband; it
is now doing double duty as a
nursery for a young grandson.
To get to the master bedroom, you
go through a long dressing room
which is mirrored top to bottom. A
