Center Galleries
Faculty Show

The Center Galleries will
open "Focus on Faculty: A
Sabbatical Exhibition" by
three faculty members of the
Center for Creative Studies —
College of Art and Design.
Joseph Bernard and Lester
Johnson of the fine arts
department, and Tom
Molyneaux of the industrial
design department will pre-
sent work accomplished in
whole or part during their re-
cent sabbatical leaves.
Joseph Bernard will display
several dark, geometrically
patterned collage paintings
that are made in part from
cut-up film strips. Lester
Johnson will show paintings,
works on paper and wrapped
totemic sculptures. Tom
Molyneaux will exhibit
designs including a computer
to assist disabled children
and a child's drawing slate, as
well as recent sculptures on
ecological subjects.
The opening reception will
be 5-7 p.m. Nov. 1. "Focus on
Faculty" will be on view Nov.
1-Dec. 22.
The Center Galleries are
located at Woodward Avenue
and Kirby Street in the Park
Shelton Building. Exhibitions
are open to the public and ad-
mission is free. Gallery hours
are Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-5
p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 10
a.m.-4 p.m. The Center for
Creative Studies and the
Center Galleries are sup-
ported in part by the
Michigan Council for the
Arts.

Southfield Hosts
Museum Tour

The City of Southfield will
host a tour to the Toledo
Museum of Art to see a Mon-
treal exhibit "Design 1935-65
What Modern Was" 9:30
a.m.-3:30 p.m. Nov. 13.
The 250 piece exhibit
features the works of Fames,
Saarinen, Dali and Picasso
with furniture, jewelry, table-
ware, textiles and rugs.
The trip cost includes
transportation, museum and
lunch. For reservations call

DIA Displays
Ceramics, Silver

Pottery with Pretensions:
The Marriage of Ceramics
and Silver will be on display
through Dec. 1 at the Detroit
Institute of Arts. It illustrates
and explains the various
types of silver decoration us-
ed on ceramics, including
techniques such as mounts,
luster, deposit, plate and
resist.
