The Sinai Hospital Board of
Trustees voted Monday to
restructure.
The board voted unani-
mously to create the Sinai
Health Care Corp., which will
also be responsible for Sinai's
fund-raising activities as well
as investing and distributing
donor funds which have been
held by the hospital.
Sinai Health Care Corp. is
also responsible for nomina-
ting seven members of the
new Sinai Hospital Govern-
ing Board. Bruce Thal will
serve as the chairman pro-
tern of the corporation for a
period of three to six months.
Thal will be charged with for-
ming a nominating commit-
tee which will select members
of the corporation and mem-
bers of the governing board.
The new 13-member board
will be composed of the seven
representatives selected by
the Sinai Health Care Corp.
and four members selected by
the seven and two ex-officio
members (Sinai Hospital
president and chief of staff).
Until the nominating com-
mittee is selected, the seven
officers of the former Sinai
Hospital Board of Trustees
will serve as the interim
seven-member panel of the
new governing board. Their
interim term will expire April
21. The officers are Merle
Harris, Dr. Milton Goldrath,
Carolyn Greenberg, Mervyn
Manning, Marvin Novick,
Richard F. Roth and Robert
Sosnick. In addition, Dr.
Hugh Beckman was ap-
pointed a member-at-large.
