Symphony Society
Opens Season

The Scandinavian Sym-
phony Orchestra will open its
three-concert program 3 p.m.
Oct. 27 at the Southfield
Senior Adult Center, 24350
Civic Center Drive.
Music director and conduc-
tor, Andrew Sewell, a native
of New Zealand, is beginning
his second year with the
Scandinavian Symphony. He
is a 1990 honors graduate of
the University of Michigan,
where he studied under
Gustav Meier.
Second in the series will be
a collaboration with the Dear-
born Ballet Theater in a per-
formance of the complete Nut-
cracker ballet by Tchaikovsky
7:30 p.m. Nov. 29; 1:30 p.m.
Nov. 30 at Edsel Ford High
School.
Closing the season on April
4, 1992, will be a concert of
Scandinavian compositions —
two suites and a symphony --
followed by a reception with
members of the orchestra.
