Hadassah Celebrates
Its 75th Anniversary

he Greater Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah
held :their 75th an-
niversary opening meeting
at Temple Beth El on Oct. 8.
President Barbara Gut-
man helped coordinate the
event along with her vice
presidents of programing
Shelley Boschan and
Suzanne Noveck.
Hadassah's Central States
Regional President Phyllis
Berlas attended the lun-
cheon along with many local
past presidents including,
Arline Gould, Suzanne
Kaufman, Buena Lichter,
Annette Meskin, Lillian
Perlman, Melba Winer.
Jennifer Michaels,
daughter of Bob and Linda
Michaels of Bloomfield
Hills, drove in from the Uni-
versity of Michigan to attend
the luncheon.
Linda Solomon, photo-
journalist, presented a slide
presentation and talk to the
more than 300 guests. Mrs.
Solomon specializes in
photographing and inter-
viewing national celebrities.
She is the national spokes-
man for the Photography In-
formation Council, which is
comprised of camera, film
and accessory manufac-
turers and distributors. Her
photographs are unique be-
cause she insists on using
natural light.
Mrs. Solomon shared with
the patrons some of her spe-
cial moments in celebrity
photography, including her
photos from the Emmy
Awards. The crowd viewed
many stunning photographs
of Liz Taylor. Ms. Solomon
said that Liz Taylor believes
her secret in looking
youthful is she is in love.

Mrs. Solomon's latest spe-
cial project involves
photographs taken by chil-
dren. She has been providing
children with cameras and
asking them to photograph
what they like. "Children
express so much in photog-
raphy, and it encourages
their self-esteem," said Mrs.
Solomon.

The local chapter of Magen
David Adorn honored Dr.
Morris and Betty
Starkman at its recent
testimonial dinner-dance.
Dinner chairman Dr.
Stewart Epstein began the
evening festivities, held at
Adat Shalom Synagogue.
The guest speaker was Dr.
Hahn Koren, Israel consul
for press and information.
Robert Starkman
delivered a tribute to his
parents, describing them as
inspirational, dedicated and
hardworking.
