Sydney, Australia (JTA) —
The umbrella body of the
Australian Jewish commun-
ity has called on the
legislature of the Northern
Territory to censure a mem-
ber of Parliament who alleg-
ed that Australian Jews and
the Anti-Defamation League
were conspiring to corrupt
Australians through por-
nographic videos.
Leslie Caplan, president of
the Executive Council of
Australian Jewry, com-
plained to the speaker of the
territory's Assembly about a
speech by Independent
member of Parliament Denis
Collins.
Mr. Collins claimed that
Australian Jewish leader Isi
Leibler is the "No. 2 man for
the ADL," which "engages
in a wide range of activities
that are inherently criminal
in nature, including es-
pionage, support of
suspected international nar-
cotics traffickers," as well as
"covert activities on behalf
of both hostile foreign
governments and U.S.
government agencies."
Mr. Collins said his infor-
mation came from, the Ex-
ecutive Intelligence Review, a
newsletter published by the
extremist political cult of
Lyndon LaRouche.
Mr. Caplan said Mr. Col-
lins' remarks "clearly
breach any acceptable
parliamentary standard."
In his speech, Mr. Collins
also named two other
prominent members of the
Australian Jewish commun-
ity as linked to "various
organized crime groups."
Mr. Collins, who was a
member of the ruling Coun-
try Liberal Party in the Nor-
thern Territories, was ex-
pelled from the party prior to
the last election. He repre-
sents a predominantly
white, urban electorate in
the central Australian city
of Alice Springs.
The Northern Territory
Assembly will reconvene
Oct. 1, following a seasonal
break. Mr. Caplan has re-
quested that the Parliament
"censure Mr. Collins or, at
the very least, disclaim his
unparliamentary attacks on
Jews and respected Jewish
organizations."
Mr. Leibler said he did not
know whether to be amused
or outraged.

are plainly the outpourings
of a sick mind, and do not de-
serve a serious response."
