Oak Park, died Oct. 7. He is
survived by his daughter and
son-in-law, Dr. Harold and Il-
ene Mathis of West Bloom-
field; two grandchildren.

Kline's Manager
Louis Baum, 87, former
Detroiter of Fairfield, Conn.,
died Oct. 7.
Mr. Baum, a graduate of the
University of Missouri, was
the former general manager
of Kline's and former presi-
dent of the B. Siegel Co. He
retired in the late 1970s and
did volunteer work with the
Services Corps of Retired
Executives.
He was past president of the
Retail Merchants Association
of Detroit, past president of
the Great Lakes Club, past
board member of the Greater
Detroit Chamber of Com-
merce, a life member and past
board member of Temple Beth
El. A retailing lectureship
was established at Wayne
State University in his honor.
He leaves his son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard
and Marcia of Austin, Texas;
daughter and son-in-law,
Jane and Dr. Robert Wachsler
of Westport, Conn.; brother
and sister-in-law, Samuel and
Patti of Denver, Colo.; sister,
Caroline Michael of Denver;
five grandchildren.
Manuel Handelman
Dr. Manuel H.
Hendelman, former
Detroiter of Pompano Beach,
Fla., died Oct. 2. He was 85.
Dr. Hendelman, who was
born in Russia, practiced
medicine for more than 50
years. He graduated from
the Detroit College of Medi-
cine and Surgery. He served
his internship at the
Evangelical Deaconess
Hospital, where at 23 he was
the youngest junior staff
member.
Dr. Hendelman was af-
filiated with the American
Board of Abdominal
Surgery.
He is survived by his wife,
Gail; daughters, Joann of
North Palm Beach, Fla., Dr.
Beverly of San Francisco,
Phyllis Tolchin of Syracuse,
N.Y.; sisters and brother-in-
law, Evelyn Ginter of
Southfield, Marion and Sol
Auslander of Southfield,
Sylvia Rosenfeld of North
Miami, Fla.; four grand-
children.
