Lubavitch Dinner
Honors Locals

Arthritis Coping
Is Forum Topic

The annual Lubavitch
Foundation dinner benefit-
ting the Synagogue Campus
of Living Judaism will be
held 5 p.m. Oct. 13 at the
Westin Hotel.
Governor John Engler is
honorary chairman of the
event, and dinner chairman is
the Honorable Charles Levin,
Michigan State Supreme
Court Justice. Associate
chairmen are Donald Barris
and David Pollack.
The dinner will honor a
number of philanthropists for
their leadership roles in
establishing the Campus.
These include: Norman Alan,
gemologist and businessman;
Philip Warren, past president
of Paragon Steel; Mr. and
Mrs. William Jacobs; Dr. and
Mrs. Jerome Kasle of Flint,
who are founders of the Flint
Torah Academy. Also, Mr. and
Mrs. Bentzion Rosen and Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Nichamin.
The Campus will be
established on a 40-acre site
in West Bloomfield. It will in-
clude a synagogue, retreat
and conference center, day
care facility, Russian-Jewish
cultural center, museum of
Jewish art, Torah library,
Rabbinical college and
Yeshiva as well as a 12-acre
park.
There is a charge for the
dinner. For information, call

The Arthritis Foundation
and Sinai Hospital will spon-
sor a free arthritis informa-
tion forum, "Basic Facts
About and Coping With Ar-
thritis" 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in
the hospital's Zuckerman
Auditorium.
A panel of physicians will
speak on and demonstrate a
variety of related subjects in-
cluding the latest medica-
tions and treatments for ar-
thritis, how surgical treat-
ment helps in the manage-
ment of arthritis and a discus-
sion of unproven remedies vs.
good treatments for the
disease.
The forum will be
moderated by Dr. Samuel
Indenbaum. Other speakers
will include Dr. Henry
Brytowski, Jerome Rosen-
thal, Larry Silverman and
Richard Krugel.
There is no charge, but
reservations are requested. To
register, call Arthritis Foun-

The Galleria Officentre in
Southfield will host an "Emp-
ty Bowls" reception 4:30-7:30
p.m. Oct. 9 in cooperation
with members of the
Michigan Potters' Association
as a part of a nationwide
endeavor to raise $1 million
by Oct. 16, World Food Day.
Food donated by several
restaurants including Kyla's,
Inn Season Cafe and Cafe
Galleria, will be served in
hand-crafted "Empty Bowls"
donated by members of the
Michigan Potters' Association
and other area artists. Music
will be provided by Ursula
Walker and the Buddy Bud-
son Band.
For a minimum donation,
each guest will receive one of
the hand-crafted bowls
together with a service of
soup and bread. All proceeds
will benefit local hunger
organizations, including
COTS, Fort Street Open Door
and Manna Meals.
The "Empty Bowls" event
will take place in the atrium
of 300 Galleria Officentre in
Southfield.

Radomer Society
Plans Banquet

The Radomer Aid Society
will hold its 71st annual ban-
quet 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
There will be a fund-raising
candlelighting ceremony,
cocktails, dinner and music.
