"Holocaust and History" will be taught 7:30-8:30 p.m. by Rabbi Ernst Conrad, rabbi emeritus of Temple Kol Ami. The War Against the Jews, by Lucy Dawidovicz, will be used as the text. "Conversational Yiddish" will be offered 7:30-8:30 p.m. by Rabbi Ahron Davidson. This course is designed for students with lit- tle or no background in Yid- dish who wish to acquire basic skills in reading, conver- sation and comprehension of Yiddish. Cecilia Lakin, chair of adult education at Temple Kol Ami, will teach a course 8:30-9:30 p.m. entitled, "Toward a Bet- ter Understanding of Chris- tianity." "Introduction to the Talmud" will be taught by Rabbi Martin Berman of Con- gregation Beth Achim 7-8 p.m. Thursdays Oct. 10-Dec. 5. Rabbi Berman will use the Steinsaltz Talmud as the text. "Life after Life," a study of the Jewish view of reincarnation, will be offered 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays Oct. 7-28. In this course, the instructor will utilize a creative approach to analyzing the Chumash (Five Books of Moses). Huntington Woods Min- yan will offer a six week course entitled, "Responsa to Current Issues in Jewish Halachah," taught by Rabbi David Shepherd. Topics will include Jewish court of law — Bet Din, life after life, medical ethics, and the parsha (por- tion) of the week. It will meet Tuesdays Oct. 8-Nov. 12 7:30-8:30 p.m., at Burton School, Oak Park. Adat Shalom Synagogue will offer three courses at the synagogue. They will meet on Wednesdays, Oct. 9-30. A buf- fet dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. Reservations for dinner are required. "Hands on Holidays" will be taught by Narda Oz of the Community Jewish High School, from 7-8 p.m. In this course students will learn about Shabbat and the major Jewish holidays. "Maimonides' 13 Principles of Faith" will be taught by Rabbi Alon Tolwin, 7-8 p.m. "The Jewish Heritage as Expressed in Jewish Art" will be taught by Esther Tarnoff Cooper. It will meet from 8-9 p.m. Temple Beth El will offer a course entitled, "Pirkei Avot: Jewish Perspectives on Ethical Issues." The course will be taught by Larry Ziffer, director of planning and agency relations of Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
