'''"'"•""1 NEWS I N MIA Reports Disinformation Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israeli officials say they have no in- formation concerning a report in a Swiss Jewish weekly that the Shi'ite fun- damentalist group Hez- bollah has turned over the bodies of two missing Israeli soldiers to a forensic labora- tory in Vienna. Judische Rundschau re- ported that Hezbollah had transferred the remains of Rachamim Alsheikh and Yosef Fink to the University of Vienna, on condition they not be handed over to Israel until a number of Palestin- ian terrorists are freed. Their reported demands included the release of Shi'ite cleric Sheik Abdul Karim Obeid. But Hezbollah has since denied the report, and Austrian government offi- cials said they had no infor- mation about such a transfer. Israel has accepted a report that Mr. Alsheikh is dead but said that reports concerning Mr. Fink are in- conclusive and await further credible evidence. In Jerusalem, Yossi Olmert, head of the Government Press Office, said there had been no change in recent days with regard to Israeli soldiers listed as missing in action. "Israel has received no new information on the MIAs, including Yossi Fink and navigator Ron Arad." Mr. Arad, an air force navigator shot down over Lebanon in 1986, has been variously reported to be in Iranian hands or a captive of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Reports from London last week said that the head of the Democratic Front, Nayef Hawatmeh, had told a mem- ber of the British Parlia- ment that his group was holding Mr. Arad. But government officials here seemed to attribute the report to what they say is an ongoing disinformation campaign intended to upset and confuse Israel in its search for information about soldiers missing in action. Uri Lubrani, Israel's chief prisoner-exchange negotiator, dismissed the re- cent rash of "disclosures" as a "wave of unfounded speculation." Mr. Lubrani said U.N. Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar is continu- ing his initiative, and "in the meantime, we need pa- tience and strong nerves."
