Beth Hayeled students enjoy honey cake for the holidays.

Beth Hayeled Students
Learn About Holidays

eth Hayeled nursery

school students from
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek learned
about the High Holy Days
through teachings, stories
and crafts. Teachers Elaine,
Melder and Freddie Har-
vith explained Yom Kippur
with puppets.
After the visual presenta-
tion, the 4-year-old children
drew happy and sad faces,
reinforcing the meaning of
the Day of Atonement.
Under the sad face the label
read, "Sometimes when I'm
bad G-d and I are very sad."
The happy face label read, "I
tell G-d I'm sorry, then G-d
and I can smile again!"
After the craft project, the
students baked a honey cake
to eat in class and honey
muffins for a home snack.
Leah Brand cracked the
eggs and greased the pan.
Leah Moss, who recently
became a big sister, knew
why the class chose honey
cake. "It's for a sweet year,"
she said.

TEA TIME

The debut of Charles
Crowley's collection of
sterling silver tea services,
Artisea, was recently held at
Cranbrook House. More
than 500 people attended the
show sponsored by Janis
Wetsman of the Janis
Wetsman Collection. Ms.
Wetsman also provided the
artist with a year-long sti-
pend to create the exhibit.
The 12-piece collection
features contemporary tea
services that border on the
whimsical and avant garde,
ranging in price from $4,000
to $12,000. In addition to art
patrons Janis and Bill
Wetsman, some of the in-

Fact is, more Americans
may die by the fork than by
any other weapon. That's
because so many of them
use it irresponsibly. Like
to fill up on high-fat, high-
cholesterol foods. Foods
that can load the blood with
cholesterol, which can build
up plaque in their arteries,
increasing their risk of
heart attacks and threaten-
ing their lives. So next time
you pick up a fork, remem-
ber to handle it as you
would any other weapon.
For self-defense, not
self-destruction.
