Sets Programs

The Friends of the
Southfield Public Library will
host the 11th annual John
Creecy Program Series
celebrating Mozart's 200th
anniversary.
All programs will take
place at 7 p.m. in the Mar-
cotte Room of the Southfield
Public Library located at
26000 Evergreen. The pro-
grams are free and registra-
tion is not required.
Mark McPherson and "The
Mystery of Mozart" will be
Oct. 15. "A Musical Tribute to
Mozart" by renowned Polish
pianist Leczek Bartkiewicz
will be Oct. 22. Amadeus, the
movie, will be shown Nov. 5.
The library and the Center
for Peace and Conflict Studies
will sponsor a series of lec-
tures on Monday evenings
during October and Novem-
ber. The topics, speakers, and
dates are as follows:
The New Europe: What role
for the U.S.? M. Waters, Oct.
7; Nationalism's Revival: The
Soviet Republics and Eastern
Europe, Oct. 14; The Middle
East: New Frictions, New
Alignments, Frederic Pear-
son, Oct. 21; Rethinking

How Much? For Whom? B.
Yongo-Bure, Oct. 28.

Showdown? Nov. 4; Women,
Population and Environment:
The Relationships, The

All programs will take
place in the Marcotte Room of
the Southfield Public Library
located at 26000 Evergreen,
from 7:15-8:45 p.m. There is a
charge.

Michigan Opera Theatre's
forthcoming productions of
Candide and The Mikado, the
Southfield Public Library will
present two programs.
A lecture by Mitchell
Krieger, Artistic Resource
Director of the Michigan
Opera Theatre and conductor
of Leonard Bernstein's Can-
dide will be 11 a.m. Oct. 8.
The film presentation of
Gilbert and Sullivan's classic
comic opera, The Mikado will
be 1 p.m. Oct. 14.
Both programs are free and
take place in the Marcotte
Room of the Southfield Public
Library.
