Parent Education
Classes Set

The Midrasha-College of
Jewish Studies and Con-
gregation Shir Tikvah will co-
sponsor a Sunday morning
parent education program
beginning Oct. 6.
"Hands on Holidays" will
be taught by Susie Rosenz-
weig, coordinator of the Com-
munity Services Program of
the Community Jewish High
School, Agency for Jewish
Education. The course will
focus on learning to celebrate
the major Jewish holidays in
the home and the meaning of
each holiday, its roots, tradi-
tions and customs. It will
meet for six weeks, from 9:30
to 10:40 a.m.
Beginner's Hebrew Reading
will be taught by Cheryl Litt,
Midrasha faculty member,
and Advanced Beginner's
Hebrew Reading will be
taught by Dr. Alex Ullmann,
chief of pathology, Crittenton
Hospital, for nine weeks from
11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
The courses will be held at
Costello Elementary School,
1333 Hamman Road, Troy.

Senior Program
Needs Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to
work at the senior adult
nutrition site located at the
Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center.
This federally-funded hot
lunch program serves lunch
each weekday to area seniors.
Assistance is needed to clean
and set tables, serve food,
pack homebound meals,
assist serving the handicap-
ped and with clean up.
Persons interested in
becoming involved in this
community service project are
asked to call JPM, 967-4030,
between 9 a.m. and 11:30
a.m. weekdays.

tionalism's Revival: The
Soviet Republics and Eastern
Europe" 7:15-8:45 p.m. Oct. 7
