Havdalah service 6:45 p.m.
Sept. 21 at Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses Synagogue.
Following Havdalah, all
members will join in a suk-
kah decorating party/hot dog
roast. For information, call

The Garenim and Chave-
rim Youth Groups from Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses will
participate in the annual suk-
kah decorating party
12:30-2:30 p.m. Sept. 22. All
participants will enjoy an ice
cream sundae bar. Children
in kindergarten-5th grade are
invited to join. For reserva-

Hosts Programs

Congregation Beth Achim
will host a Youth Shabbat
kick-off luncheon Sept. 21 at
the synagogue.
Youth services will begin at
10 a.m. for ages 3 on up
through high school-age, and
a luncheon will follow.

The Beth Achim Youth
Department will hold a suk-
kah decorating party 11 a.m.
Sept. 22
Following the sukkah
decorating, the youth depart-
ment will host a pizza lunch.
All children between the ages
of 3 and 18 are encouraged to
attend. The party is free of
charge and no reservations
are needed.
Beth Achim's Lahav USY,
grades 9-12, will host Sukkah
Hopping Sept. 28 following 10
a.m. services.
There is no charge for this

WAND Group
Hosts Speakers

WAND (Women's Action for
Nuclear Disarmament) will
present "Politics: The Female
Factor," featuring State
Representative Maxine Ber-
man and Mildred Jeffrey, 7:30
p.m. Sept. 26 at the Bloom-
field Township Library. Ad-
mission is free and open to
the public.
The speakers will report on
the recent conference of the
National Women's Political
Caucus in Washington, D.C.
and discuss ways in which
women can increase their
power at the ballot box.
Mildred Jeffrey is a member
of WAND and a long-time ac-
tivist. She is a former official
in the UAW, recently retired
from Wayne State University
Board of Governors, a founder
of the National Women's
Political Caucus, and present-
ly president of the Michigan
Women's Foundation.
Maxine Berman, first
elected to the legislature in
1982, has been honored by a
number of groups, among
them the American Cancer
Society and Jewish War
Veterans. Ms. Berman is a
member of many groups, in-
cluding WAND's Women

Legislators' Lobby, a net-
working organization for all
women state legislators who
share WAND's goal.
WAND's goal is to empower
women to become involved in
the political process to in-
fluence the real reduction of
mass weapons of destruction
and to redirect military
resources to human and en-
vironmental needs.

JFS Honors
Volunteers

Jewish Family Service will
host the 23rd annual
Volunteer Institute 9:30 a.m.
Oct. 14, at the Agency For
Jewish Education.
The speaker, Represen-
tative Maxine Berman, will
discuss "Living Wills and
Medicaid Benefits." Sandra
Hyman, director of Resettle-
ment Service, also will speak.
A continental breakfast
will be served and the pro-
gram will run from 10-11:30
a.m. Volunteers of Jewish
Family Service and Resettle-
ment Service and their
friends are invited to attend.
