chestra will begin its 1991-92
subscription season with
music director Neeme Jarvi
leading the orchestra in a
series of concerts highlighted
by the appearance of violinist
Isaac Stern. Mr. Stern will
perform Johannes Brahms'
Violin Concerto 8 p.m. Sept.
19, 20 and 8:30 p.m. Sept. 21
at Orchestra Hall. For the re-
mainder of the program Mr.
Jarvi has chosen Glazunov's
Morye. (The Sea) and
Rachmaninoff's Symphonic
Dances.
Isaac Stern first appeared
as a soloist with the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra nearly
38 years ago, having made his
DSO debut in February 1953
with then music director Paul
Paray. He has since perform-
ed with the Orchestra with
such conductors as Sixten
Ehrling, Aldo Ceccato, Eduar-
do Mata, Antal Dorati, Gary
Bertini and Gunther Herbig.
