Temple
Shir Shalom.

Just around
the corner,
on our
little corner
of the world.

People have asked how we did it. How we've grown from 30
families to 600 in three years. By combining the spirituality of the
centuries and the practicality of the present. It was not a miracle, it
was not even Mazel. We have learned that the only way people
really like being Jewish is when their Temple makes them feel at
home. Shir Shalom makes each and every member feel just that, an
integral part of our family.

We listened to our families and found out they wanted their

permanent home to be just around the corner and down the block.
We fought hard to make it happen, and it will soon be a reality.
After all, a promise is a promise.

We listened to our parents and that's why we created a one-day-a-

week Hebrew school on either Mondays or Wednesdays so that
learning Hebrew can be fun and painless. We listened to our
children when they told us they wanted their Bar Mitzvah or Bat
Mitzvah more individualized. That's why we have made a promise
that there will be no double Bar or Bat Mitzvah on a Shabbat,
because we believe that every one of our children deserves his or
her own special day. We listened to all our members and created
programs for the intermarrieds, the under-40-something group, the
over-40-something group, and the primetimers (over 68). We even
created our own prayer book... and why not? After all, we created
our entire congregation.

Whether you have lived in Detroit all your life or have just arrived,
whether you are single, married or divorced, a convert or part of a
blended family; you may be young or young-thinking...you are a
treasured member of our little corner of the world.

We are building on the corner of Walnut Lake and Orchard Lake

Roads. Go see the land we purchased, or come take a closer look
at the plans at our current Temple. We know you'll like what you
see. Be a pioneer, help us build, join us soon.

For membership information, please call Bunni Lieberman or Rabbi
Dannel Schwartz at 737-8700.
