membership luncheon will be
11:45 a.m. Oct. 3 at Beth
Abraham-Hillel Moses Syn-

The Michigan Opera
Theater, David DiChiera,
director, will perform a
cabaret-style musical review
highlighting songs from the
American musical theater.
The event also will feature
jewelry and merchandise
boutiques, which will be open

Sisterhood Sets
Opening Meeting

Temple Israel _Sisterhood's
opening meeting will be held
noon Sept. 26 at the temple.
Dolores Pearl, art historian,
will be the speaker. She will
speak about "Degenerate
Art:" the fate of the Avant-
garde in Nazi German. Ms.
Pearl's presentation will in-
clude an exhibition of avant-
garde film and visual art con-
fiscated by the Nazis from
German museums, currently
on display at the Art Institute
of Chicago.
Luncheon will be prepared
by Paula Shapiro, Carole
Miller and Hermaine Raimi.
There is no charge for paid-up
members; there is a charge
for non-members.

Birthday Luncheon

The National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater
Detroit Section, will "launch
its fall season with a birthday
luncheon 11:30 a.m. Sept. 25
at the Detroit Institute of
Arts. The luncheon will
celebrate the Greater Detroit
Section's 100 years of service
and caring.
The day will feature Joan
Bronk, NCJW National
President, plus the multi-
media presentation, "A Cen-
tury of Service," which depicts
the Section's involvement in
the community.
The speaker will be Hope
Palmer, art historian and lec-
turer. Ms. Palmer is working
in education at the D.I.A. and
is teaching art and art history
at Oakland Community Col-
lege and Henry Ford Com-
munity College. Her topic
will be "Art into Fashion,
Fashion into Art."
