Want a ski experience like no other?
Try heliskiing in Alberta or British Co-
lumbia in the Canadian Rockies. "It
is a total immersion into the sport of
wilderness skiing: says one skier.
Very exciting and very vigorous, it is
not for the meek, the weak or the fair
weather skier.
Selkirk-Tangiers Helicopter Skiing
offers heliskiing in remote areas of
Revelstoke, B.C., which is about a five-
hour drive from Calgary, Alberta.
Every day of your trip, you will be
picked up near your hotel at 8:30
a.m. and helicoptered to the day's
skiing area.
"Our area covers 3,000 square kilo-
meters of skiable terrain with over
200 major runs," says Susan Neme-
cek of Selkirk-Tangiers. "The area is
limited only by the range of the
helicopter and the skiers' abilities."

beginner. Its ski school is ranked

Canadian Rockies

North, beyond the United States
borders, lie the Canadian Rockies.
Alberta features four ski resorts, all
of which get more powder than wet
snow.

Banff National Park, a one-and-a-
half hour drive from Calgary, is in the
heart of the Rockies, and houses the
resorts of Lake Louise and Banff.
Banff is a picturesque Alpine town
that offers charming boutiques, fine
restaurants, and outstanding skiing.
Less than an hour's drive from Banff
is the Lake Louise resort area. Lake
Louise, named for one of Queen
Victoria's daughters, provides a
majestic setting for winter skiing or
summer hiking.
Sunshine Village Ski Resort is
located in the Banff National Park,
and has the longest ski season, from
November to June.
