"The colors reflect the time of the
year. Rich earth tones of stone,
eggplant, mustard, olive and plum will
be hot as the weather cools cown,"
adds Mr. Fischer of Kosins.
"Brighter is more fashionable, and
wearing more fashionable ties
connotes a bolder personality, as well
as being more successful because
more fashionable looks are usually
carried by the better names (in ties),"
says Rosie Iglesias, director of
marketing for the Randa Corp., the
New York-based manufacturer of the
Swing, Geoffrey Beene, Secours, Oleg
Cassini, Stanley Blacker, Principe,
Manhattan and Van Heusen lines of
men's neckwear.
Ms. Iglesias expects varying shades
of gold to be prevalent in ties this
season. Another color trend is to
muted pastel shades.
The colors are appearing in
provocative new patterns.
"Styles have changed from `neats'
(small, evenly repeated patterns) and
stripes to florals and conversationals,"
says Ms. Iglesias.

the banker — is buying more florals
