the versatility of the furs, many of the
hoods are detachable. Toggles are
another accent for a sporty, cheerful
look. The seven-eights look is still
popular.
For 1991 the lengths are either
seven-eights or luxuriously long
almost to the ankles in keeping the
European styling. Mr. Malter
recommends either 38 or 40 inches.
Mink is still the classic favorite this
season. But for 1991, a hint of mink
in the lining, on the collar or on the
cuff is still stylish.

Dollars & Scents

Men's scents are on the rise. Sales
are increasing, and there are more of
them. Which ones are popular? Sales
leaders across the country and
abroad are:
In New York — Aramis, Polo, Drak-
kar Noir and Calvin Klein's Obsession
for Men and Eternity for Men, and
Lagerfeld Photo are leaders at
Macy's. Tiffany for Men, Lagerfeld
Photo, Ittscany, Aramis, Polo, Eterni-
ty, Obsession, Giorgio Armani, Fendi,
Versace EHomme and Drakkar are
leaders at Bloomingdale's. Tiffany,
Baryshnikov Pour Homme, Eternity,
Armani, the Aramis group of fra-
grances, Obsession, Cartier, Bijan,
Polo and Hugo Boss are leaders at
Saks Fifth Avenue.
In California — The top seller at
many West Coast stores is Eternity.
Other leaders are Bijan, Drakkar, Ar-
mani and Polo. Greenwater, Caron for
Men, Eau Sauvage.
In the Midwest — Obsession, Eter-
nity, Drakkar, Polo and Aramis are
leaders at Dayton's, Hudson's and
Marshall Field's.
In Great Britain — Eternity, Chanel's
L' Egoiste and Aramis' New West are
leaders at the House of Fraser and
Harvey Nichols.
In France — Christian Dior's Eau
Sauvage is the top selling men's
fragrance. Chanel's Egoiste is the
most successful new launch. Nino
Ceruti's 1881, from Italy, is the top
new foreign fragrance. Christian Dior,
Chanel, Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent,
Paco Rabanne and Hermes are lead-
ers at Printemps, which lists Aramis
as the best selling foreign fragrance
in the store.
