Ski resorts. ■

the 95 degree days and the
90 percent humidity of sum-
mer. Now, imagine flying with
your feet barely connected to the
ground. Feel the rush that comes from
zooming down a mountain in the midst of
blindingly white snow.
Remember what it feels like to ski?
If you've been spending these waning days of
summer waxing your skis and dreaming about
subfreezing days, it's time to make plans for a ski
vacation this winter. To help you find the right ski
site, we asked local skiers to name their favorite
resorts, and to tell why they were favorites. Here's
what they chose.

Aspen's Appeal

Say "ski resort" and many think .. .
glamorous people, fantastic skiing,
and fabulous restaurants, nightlife and
shopping. Which resort has all those
ingredients? Aspen.
Aspen, Colorado, is located in the
Roaring Fork Valley in the White River
National Forest, 200 miles southwest
of Denver. Both a city and a ski resort,
it has a year-round population. Aspen
offers accommodations for approxi-
mately 10,000 people, from simple
bed-and-breakfast inns to hotels and
deluxe condominiums.
