trousers. In the New York fashion
show, models sported mufflers
around their necks and sweaters
around their waists.
Sweaters and knits are a strength at
Perry Ellis. A snowflake pattern graces
one sweater, while turtlenecks come
in luscious shades. Mr. Jacobs even
incorporates floor-length sweater sets
for the ultimate evening sweater. He
pairs a gray cashmere turtleneck with
gray-and-cream houndstooth pants
and a cherry cashmere car coat for
a rich, casual look.
While checks are part of the sporty
day look, Mr. Jacobs saves some tar-
tan plaids and striped taffetas for the
evening collection. He shows a black

cashmere turtleneck with a billowing
taffeta tartan skirt. He adds candy-
cane striped organzas, floral prints,
double-face satin and wool crepe for
a sumptuous mix of holiday dressing.
On a conservative note, he shows
a cocktail suit with beading accents.
For the ultimate statement, he uses
a tartan lining for a fur coat.
When asked to sum up his fall col-
lection, Mr. Jacobs requires only one
word — "glamorous."
Women's Wear Daily agreed, report-
ing, "This was a collection that cap-
tured the spirit of Perry Ellis without
