The resulting telecom- munication service, which receives emergency calls and dispatches and tracks am- bulances, will work more ef- ficiently and responsively. In addition, the telemetry system capabilities will pro- vide the MDA ambulance paramedics with direct com- munication to hospital emergency rooms and the transmission of ECG informa- tion to the hospital awaiting the patient's arrival. Dr. Eugene Nagel, the "father of paramedic pro- grams in the United States," said that the telecommunica- tions service together with the reorganization of the MDA Emergency Medical System will advance emergency medical services in Israel, as it would allow MDA to save the lives of more victims of cardiac arrests, trauma and accidents. The American Red Magen David for Israel and the MDA supporting societies throughout the world have been asked to raise the $5,000,000 required to fund this program.
