OBITUARIES

In Loving Memory of our dear cousin

DAVID J. (DOVID YAAKOV) COHEN

October 2, 1906 - February 17, 1991

An attorney of sterling character, integrity and eloquent speech.
Distinguished for his ardent communal leadership and generous support
of noble causes including Bar Ilan University, Mizrachi and especially
Yeshiva Beth Yehudah for which he served as President and Chairman of
the Board. He loved G-d, Israel and Humanity. He was dedicated to his
family and faithful in his learning and observance of our holy Torah and

Mitzvot.

His memory is a beacon of inspiration and blessing to all those who were
privileged to know him or benefit from his wisdom and good works.

Survived by his dear wife of 55 years, Evelyn (Chava), a teacher with
unequaled warmth, love and kindness who made Aliyah to Israel with
Dave in 1972, and by their children Resha & Jerry Krakower and Sherill &
Mendel Katz, I 2 grandchildren and I 7 great-grandchildren. May they be
blessed with consolation, good health and happiness always. With love,

Headed ORT

Ethel Stollman, 61, of West
Bloomfield, died Sept. 2.
Mrs. Stollman was a leather
clothing sales executive, a
member of the National
Council of Jewish Women,
CASA, Bar Ilan and past
president of Cary and ORT.
She leaves her daughters
and sons-in-law, Suzanne
Stollman, Lisa and Dr. Eric
Smouha of North Port, Long
Island, Margo Stollman of
London, England, Adrienne
and Jack Wein of East Lans-
ing; her mother, Ella Cohen;
brothers and sisters-in-law,
Martin and Gloria Cohen,
Richard and Marion Cohen,
all of West Bloomfield; four
grandchildren.

Gary Davidoff, 35,
Medical Pioneer

Professor Gary Davidoff, of
Ann Arbor, died of Hodgkin's
disease on Aug. 29. He was

35.

Dr. Davidoff, whose re-
search and teaching in reha-
bilitation medicine was inter-
nationally recognized, com-
pleted his studies for a doc-
torate of medicine at the
Wayne State University
School of Medicine in 1981.
He finished a medical
residency at the North-
western University Medical
School and the Rehabilitation
Institute of Chicago in 1984,
then joined the faculty of the
Department of Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation
at the University of
Michigan, where he recently
was promoted to associate
professor.
Professor Davidoff publish-
ed more than 35 manuscripts
in the areas of chronic pain,
closed head injury and spinal
cord injury, and was the reci-
pient of an award from the
National Institute of
Neurological Disorders and
Stroke.
From 1988-1990, Professor
Davidoff served as chief of the
Rehabilitation Medicine Cen-
ter in Ann Arbor, in addition
to his other academic and
clinical duties. Since January
1989, he served as project

Professor Davidoff was an
associate editor of the

Rehabilitation for Neurologic
Disabilities and NeuroRe-
habilitation: An Interdiscipli-
nary Journal. He was the

recipient of a Fulbright Lec-
tureship Award to teach and
lead research studies at Tel
Aviv University.
He was a founding member
of the Ann Arbor Orthodox
Minyan and the financial vice
president of the Hebrew Day
School of Ann Arbor.
He is survived by his wife,
Karen Maltzer Davidoff;
children, Shira, Zvi and
Noam; parents, Ronald and
Rita Davidoff of Oak Park;
brother and sister-in-law,
Mark Davidoff and Margie
Dunn of West Bloomfield.

M. Goldsmith, 81,
Negotiator

Maurice Goldsmith, 81, of
Huntington Woods, died Aug.
29.
He was an attorney and
contract negotiator for the
Tank Arsenal until he retired
in 1975, a - life member of the
State of Michigan Bar
Association and a graduate of
the Detroit College of Law
with an honorary doctor of
jurisprudence from the
Michigan Bar Association.
He was a member of the
Workmen's Circle Branch and
financial secretary for many
years.
Mr. Goldsmith leaves his
wife, Belle; son and daughter-
in-law, Arnold and Dorothy of
McLean, Va.; sister, Grace
Silver; two grandsons.

Harold Bussey, 65,
Optometrist

Dr. Harold Bussey, 65, of
Southfield, died Aug. 30.
Dr. Bussey was an op-
tometrist with the Pontiac
Eye Clinic. He was an avid
baseball fan and a member of
Temple Israel, Southfield Op-
timists, a former Pontiac
Toastmaster, and was a
member of the Southfield
board of education for 22
years. He worked raising
funds for Cystic Fibrosis.
Dr. Bussey leaves his wife,
Shirley; daughters and son-
in-law, Susan of Lincoln Park,
Sharon and David Hohnbaum
of the Virgin Islands; sisters
and brother-in-law, Irene and
Dr. Leonard Birndorf of Or-
chard Lake, Estelle Schubi-
ner of Southfield.
