Temple Emanu-El
Hires Ira Wise

Temple Emanu-El has
welcomed Ira Wise, its new
temple educator, to the Tem-
ple Emanu-El staff.
Mr. Wise graduated from
the Hebrew Union College's
Rhea Hirsch School of Jewish
Education with a master's
degree in Jewish education.
The three-year program in-
cluded in-depth study of
Hebrew language, Bible,
Midrasha curriculum and
staff development, and
theories of education. The
program began with a year in
Jerusalem followed by two
years in Los Angeles.
Prior to his studies at
H.U.C., Mr. Wise served in his
native Chicago as a regional
director for the Hadassah-
sponsored Zionist youth
movement, Young Judea. He
directed one- and two-week
Jewish summer day camps for
primary age children
throughout Illinois, Michi-
gan, Indiana and Iowa.

Jabotinsky Society
Presents Program

Jabotinsky Society of Herut
Zionists of America will pre-
sent a program in memory of
Jabotinsky 8:30 p.m. Sept. 14
at the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Jewish Community Center.
The speaker will be Dr. Leo
Y. Goldman, rabbi of Con-
gregation Shaarey
Shomayim.
Cantor Barry Ulrych will
chant memorial prayers.
Coffee and bagels will be
served; a new Israeli movie
will be shown.

Yom Kippur
Is Rabbi's Topic

Rabbi Avraham Jacobobits,
director of Machon L'Torah,
the Jewish Learning Network
of Michigan, will be the guest
speaker at a pre-Yom Kippur
program sponsored by the
University of Michigan
Hiliel. The program will be
held 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at Hillel.
The rabbi will discuss "Yom
Kippur: Pain or pleasure?"
Refreshments will be served.

Radomer Society

The annual memorial ser-
vice of the Radomer Mutual
Society of Detroit will take
place 11 a.m. Sept. 15 at
Chesed Shel Emes Cemetery.

conduct the service and Can-
tor Max Shimansky will
chant the El Mole Rachamin.
