Home For Aged
Meets Needs
Jewish Home for Aged has
developed a kinder approach
in helping new residents and
their families ensure a
smooth transition into the
Home. The approach is called
"Family Ties," and it focuses
on the individual's very
special needs during the ad-
mission process.
To accommodate to this sen-
sitive time, a support person
has been assigned to help the
resident and family feel that
their particular needs are
met.
The admissions support
person helps the resident feel
at home in their new environ-
ment by responding to emo-
tional as well as clinical con-
cerns: How can I fix up my
room? When can my family
come to visit me? Who will I
sit with in the dining room?
Will anyone talk to me?
Where do I take a bath? How
is my laundry done?
"Family Ties" is helpful
in resident/family understan-
ding of realistic expectations
and identifies areas of family
participation that can make a
difference in insuring a plea-
sant social interaction for the
resident. Staff encourages
families to visit and interact
at times best needed to help
their loved ones.
