of Baltimore, Md., died Aug.
20. He is survived by his wife,
Janis; son, Martin of
Baltimore; daughter, Frances
Levy of St. Louis, Mo.; brother
and sister-in-law, Frank and

ington Hills; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Miriam and
Herman Lurie, Anne and
Sasha Spector, Dora and Ber-
nie Cherry, all of Baltimore;

Manual Kravetz, 77,
Founded Fraternity

Dr. Manual R. Kravetz, 77,
of Sterling Heights, died Aug.
19.
Dr. Kravetz was a dentist
who practiced in Detroit. and
St. Clair Shores until he
retired in 1987. He did his
undergraduate studies at
Wayne State University and
received his dental degree
from the University of
Detroit. He was a major in the
Army Air Force during World
War II, was a founding
member and past chancellor
of Alpha Omega Dental
Fraternity and taught den-
tistry at the University of
Detroit Dental School.
He leaves his sons and
daughters-in-law, Jay and
Carol of West Bloomfield, Lee
and Denise, Roy and Marie of
Warren; daughters and son-
in-law, Sheryl and Robert Jur-
va and Judith Hammond;
seven grandchildren.

Jennifer Mellen, 19,
Top Graduate

Jennifer Lynn Mellen, 19,
of Bloomfield Hills, died Aug.
26. Miss Mellen was a
sophomore at the University
of Michigan and graduated
summa cum laude and Phi
Beta Kappa from Andover
High School in June 1990.
She leaves her parents, Dr.
John and Barbara of Bloom-
field Hills; grandfather, Dr.
Hyman Mellen of West
Bloomfield; great-grand-
mother, Tillie Knopper of
Southfield.

Aaron Katzman, 81
Accountant -

Aaron Katzman, 81, of West
Bloomfield, died Aug. 22.
Mr. Katzman was an ac-
countant for 20 years. He was
a member of the Independent
Order of Oddfellows and held
the highest position in the
Children's Aid Society of
Windsor. He was a member of
Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses.
He leaves his wife, Helen;
sons and daughters-in-law,
William "Val" and Andrea of
Farmington Hills, Dr. Gerald
and Anne of Farmington
Hills; sister, Belle Behrmann
of Farmington Hills; five
grandchildren.

Sam Rosenblat, 90,
Orchestra Leader

Sam Rosenblat, 90, of Oak
Park, died Aug. 23.
Mr. Rosenblat was director
of the Sam Rosenblat Or-
chestra. He was a member for
more than 50 years of Con-
gregation B'nai David, a
member of the Detroit
Federation of Musicians and
a member of the United Food
and Commercial Worker's
Retirees Union.
He is survived by his wife,
Fannie; sons and daughters-
in-law, Arthur and Elaine of
Southfield, Leonard and Rose
of Livonia; five grand-
children; one great-grand-
daughter.

Goldye Sills, 84,
Sinai Guild Member

Goldye Sills, 84, of South-
field, died Aug. 24.
She was a member of and
kept the books for the Sinai
Hospital Guild for 25 years,
had 13,000 hours of volunteer
work at Sinai Hospital and
worked twice a week in the
gift shop. She was a member
of Temple Beth El and its
sisterhood.
She leaves her sons and
daughters-in-law, Allan and
Anne Levy of Brighton, John
and Kay Levy of Boca Raton,
Fla.; sister and brother-in-
law, Irma and Walter Hirsch-
berg of Huntington Woods;
brother and sister-in-law,
David and Betty Feerer of
Longboat Key, Fla.; four
granddaughters.
