Midrasha College
Is Offering Classes
The Midrasha-College of
Jewish Studies is now taking
registrations for the fall
semester. Courses in Hebrew
reading, conversation and
literature are offered on all
levels, Monday through
Thursday, mornings, after-
noons and evenings, beginn-
ing Sept. 3.
Interactive Video Techno-
logy is available to advanced
Hebrew language students
and is offered in cooperation
with the University of
Michigan. Hebrew faculty in-
cludes Nira Lev, Geri Levit
and Ahuva Newman.
Courses in Jewish studies
begin Oct. 3. "The Different
Ethnic Groups in Israel from
1990 to the Present," taught
by Narda Oz, will meet for
four weeks on Thursdays, Oct.
3-24, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
"The Thirteen Petaled
Rose: A Look at Jewish
Mysticism," will meet on
Mondays, Oct. 7-Nov. 25, from
10 to 11 a.m. "Primary on
Jewish Mysticism II," is also
offered. It will meet on
Tuesdays, Oct 8-Nov. 26, from
7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both
mysticism courses are taught
by Rabbi Elimelech Silber-
berg of Congregation Bais
Chabad of West Bloomfield.
"Israeli Dancing" is being
taught by Cheryl Litt. A
beginners and intermediate
class for women will meet on
Mondays, Oct. 7-28, from 10
to 11 a.m., and on Thursdays,
Oct. 10-31, from 8 to 9 p.m. A
beginners class for families
will meet on Thursdays, Oct.
10-31 from 7 to 8 p.m.
"Hebrew Calligraphy" for
beginners and advanced
students will be taught by ar-
tist Naomi Blumenberg and
will meet on Tuesdays, Oct.
8-Nov. 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
"In the Beginning," an in-
depth analysis of Genesis will
be taught by Chaya Sarah
Silberberg of Congregation
Bais Chabad of West Bloom-
field. It will be held on
Wednesdays, Oct. 9-Nov. 27,
from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., follow-
ed by a course from 8:35 to
9:35 p.m. entitled, "The
Structure of the Jewish
Calendar."
"D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything
and Read) Jewish Books
Bookclub" is being offered
monthly for seven sessions on
Mondays from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
and on Wednesdays from 10 to
11:30 a.m. It will be lead by
Judy Silberg Loebl, coor-
dinator of the D.E.A.R. pro-
gram and principal of the
Community Jewish High
School.
A course for teachers entitl-
ed, "Meeting the Challenge:
Teaching Hebrew as a Living
Language to the American
Student" is being taught by
Nira Lev. The course will
meet on Thursdays, Oct. 3-24
from 7 to 9 p.m.
Rabbi Rod Glogower of the
Hillel Orthodox Minyan at
the University of Michigan
will teach "Selected Readings
from Talmudic Literature."
Rabbi Glogower will include
topics relating to the holidays,
prayer, matters of civil law
and capital punishment as
well as the history and
development of the Talmud. It
will meet for 12 Tuesdays,
Oct. 8-Jan. 7 from 10 a.m. to
12:30 p.m.

meet at the United Hebrew

B'nai David School
At Maple-Drake
Congregation B'nai David
is taking registration for its
Sunday school located at the
Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center. Classes will
begin on Sept. 15 for pre-
school Kinderspiel for
3-5-year-olds and 1-2-3 class
for children who will be 6-8
during the 1991-92 school
year.
An open house will be held
10-11:30 a.m. Sept. 8 at the
JCC.
