JNF Preparing
Housing Sites

Through its Operation Pro-
mised Land campaign, the
Jewish National Fund is
developing land for 83,000
housing units at 55 locations
in Israel to house Soviet and
Ethiopian immigrants.
JNF of America is raising
funds for immigrant housing
site preparation at
Neighborhood 11 in Beer-
sheva, among other areas.
Located on the western side of
the city, it will expand the
present neighborhood of
Ramot Pinchas Sapir. Some
3,000 apartment units are
planned for the site in the
first stage.
JNF is also developing land
for two kindergartens, a day
care center, two elementary
schools, a synagogue, stores
and a large park, and it is
building access roads.
Sponsorship of site prepara-
tion at Beersheva is available
in all categories of giving.
Every synagogue in the
United States has been ask-
ed to adopt a goal of at least
one housing site at a cost of
$5,000 per site.

Chautauqua Class
At Alma College

Rabbi Morton Hoffman,
spiritual leader of Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek in East
Lansing, will teach a course
entitled "The Heritage of
Judaism" during the fall
semester at Alma College in
Alma. This class is one of 144
across the United States that
will be underwritten this year
by the Jewish Chautauqua
Society.
