Born and educated in South
Africa, Mrs. Goldberg spent
several years in Israel before
settling in Washington, D.C.,
where she chairs the Com-
munity Integration Commit-
tee for Soviet Resettlement.
The Lion of Judah pin will
be introduced to the Detroit
community at the gathering.

free time, the volunteers
took day trips, including a
visit to Masada and Yad
Vashem, the Holocaust
memorial, and met with a
Bedouin sheik. The sheik
had four wives and 61 chil-
dren, including a son in the
Israeli air force. He spoke
fluent Hebrew and was look-
ing forward to a visit from
Housing Minister Ariel Sha-
ron.
The volunteers also wat-
ched a graduation of Israeli
marines, who. marked the
end of their training on the
shore of the Mediterranean
Sea. Their graduation in-
cluded marching out of the
