Maple-Drake
Sets Classes
The Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan
Detroit and Nancy Gurwin
are offering nine weeks of
musical theater instruction to
8- to 13-year-old students
starting Sept. 4, 5-6:30 p.m.
on Wednesdays at the Maple-
Drake building.
This class will highlight in-
gredients of the musical
theater, such as voice, stage
movement and auditioning.
The Dance Center of the
JCC will offer classes in
creative, ballet, jazz and tap,
beginning and intermediate,
for children and adults.
Modern dance and the
Festival Dance Group will
teach adults on Thursday
mornings; ballroom dancing,
beginning and intermediate,
will be on Wednesday nights.
The ballroom dancing class
will accept couples or single
individuals.
A street, contemporary and
classic dance class, called "Yo-
Dance Steps You Can Really
Use At Parties!," for young
people (6th- and 7th-graders),
will meet 7-8 p.m., 10 sessions
starting Oct. 14. A DJ will be
in attendance as well as the
instructor.
The Dance Center at the
Center has planned recitals
for some of the children's
classes.

LZA Sets
Annual Meeting
Professor Henry Finegold,
national president of the
Labor Zionist Alliance, will
speak at the annual kick-off
meeting for the Labor Zionist
Special Fund Campaign noon
Aug. 18 at the Labor Zionist
Institute.
Professor Finegold is a past
president of the Jewish
Historical Society of New
York and chairman of the
Academic Council of the
American Jewish Historical
Society. He also serves as a
member of the executive com-
mittee of the Holocaust
Memorial in New York City.
Professor Finegold's topic
will be "The Goals of the
Labor Zionist Movement in
the '90s."

gees, convened July 6, 1938,
in the face of the plight of
Austrian and German Jews,
