We had the neatest thing the other
night. It was called Foxfire.
First, we all dressed in jeans and
bandannas and put freckles on our faces
with eye pencils. Then we went down to
this big field for a cookout, where I ate
chips and hot dogs and watermelon. Then
we got to go to a bunch of activities. We
could get tattoos made with felt pens, play
in the hay, bob for apples and throw
horseshoes. There also were sack races
and face painting, a cake walk where the
winner got a tunnel cake, and shotgun
marriages. The marriages were popular,
but they weren't long, drawn-out affairs, if
that's what you're thinking. One boy
asked this girl to marry him but she shook
her head when she saw everybody
waiting to be married. "The lines are too
long," she said. Some guy counselor
married 12 girls, one for each month.
My favorite thing was making cider.
Well, I didn't really make it, but these
three new friends of mine did. Their names
are Joshua Cresswell, Zach Applebaum
and Adam Gottlieb. Zach put the apples
in, Josh smashed them down and Adam
turned the crank to make the juice. When
the cider was done, Josh gave me a glass.
At first I was hesitant because the juice
had a lot of chunks of apple, so it didn't
exactly look appetizing. Josh said, "I
know it looks gross, but it's delicious." And
it was. It sort of tasted like applesauce.
Where is that gum I asked you to send?

Here are my new
friends Adam Gottlieb

They helped me make
apple cider that was
delicious.
