Mr. Eliowitz, who died in 1981, was a triple threat at State, where he quarterback- ed the offense, returned punts and ran the ball as a fullback. "Big Abe," as he was called by sportswriters, also played baseball for the Spartans. After Michigan State, Mr. Eliowitz played football in Canada with the Ottawa Roughriders and later the Montreal Alouettes. In 1935, he led the league with 62 points, and in 1969 was en- shrined in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. He coached Denby High in Detroit to a city champion- ship in 1946. In 1909, when he was excused from practice for two days to attend Rosh Hashanah services in Detroit, his teammates demanded an explanation. After Mr. Magidsohn gave his reason, his teammates said "Next year, I'm going to be a Jew." Mr. Magidsohn distin- guished himself as a Western Conference referee from 1912-46. He handled all the major games of the day, including Army-Navy, the Rose Bowl, Army-Notre Dame and the College All- Star game. Mr. Goldman, a native of South Carolina, played and later coached for the silver- Julius Goldman medal Canadian Olympic basketball team that corn- peted in Berlin in 1936.
