Didn't happen and Shelly sent Man- dy a letter three weeks before his appearance here, to the theater on Broadway where he was appearing . . . Four days later, Shelly received a phone call from New York and good tickets were left in her name at Pine Knob. After the show, she was able to speak to him and give thanks for the fine seats .. . On her mind was also some- thing else . . . as Shelly discovered for certain that the call she had received from New York was by Mandy Patinkin himself . . . who had phoned just prior to going onstage.
