and supervises the universe
we occupy. We believe,
therefore, in direct Divine
reward and punishment, in
life after death, resurrection
and the Messiah.
Let's not discard those most
beautiful parts of Judaism
that just don't happen to be
apparent to the physical
senses. Gravity can't be seen,
smelled, tasted or felt, and if
God didn't make the apple
bounce off heads, it too would
have been discarded. Now we
have Jews, who believe in
Jesus, bouncing off our heads.
Let's tell the truth about
Judaism as it is written in the
Bible which was given by God
at Mt. Sinai.
Secondly, Jews for Jesus
have a strong desire to be ac-
cepted by the Jewish com-
munity. We must not allow
this. They feel completed by
Jesus, completed as Jews.
This is completely ox-
imoronic. They embrance as
their savior the greatest
source of evil and destruction
of the Jewish people and they
say, with love and sweetness,
that they still want to be a
part of the Jewish people?
All Jews must understand
clearly and be able to ar-
ticulate without hesitation
that it is an anathema to
believe in Jesus and be part
of the Jewish people. Anyone
can make up or modify a
religion and incorporate
enough silly schtick to give
followers a spiritual "buzz." It
can even be called Judaism.
Real Judaism is spiritually
fulfilling, not just because we
daven, put on tefillin, keep
Shabbat, kosher, and learn
Torah. Judaism is fulfilling
because the Jewish people
have a mission. Jesus is the
antithesis of our mission.

ii■■■

The purpose of Judaism is
not to attain salvation or even
to be "holy." The Jewish mis-
sion is to teach humanity to
live with what Dennis Prager
calls "ethical monotheism."
We must say, with one voice,
"You, who believe in Jesus,
are not a part of the Jewish
community. You deny our
history — you have no share
in our destiny."

We must become more
serious about Judaism. We
must get serious about God,
Torah from Sinai and our mis-
sion. We must realize that
Judaism isn't just baggage
that we schlep through life,
lightening the load if it gets
too heavy by discarding some
of the contents. In other
words, I mean that we must
learn and understand Torah
and teach Torah seriously.
I'll let you in on a secret. We
have no choice. God exists.
God is a gentleman but He
doesn't hide away because a
few humanists don't think
He's there, and pop out again
for the sake of the believers:
He drops apples on our heads
to remind us of gravity, inter-
marriage on our heads to re-
mind us that we are one na-
tion. He drops Jews who
believe in Jesus on our heads
to remind us of our educa:-
tional impotence and
negative population growth
to remind us, in general, of
the worthlessness of our ef-
forts to date.

We Jews can be the most
glorious people to walk on the
face of the Earth or we can be
the greatest embarassment to
humanity and to ourselves.
In order to win those Jews
back, and to win ourselves, we
need to get serious. Let's get
serious.

Native Americans
And Anti-Semitism

Your article (July 26) on the
Hopi Nation chairman turn-
ing to Jews for advice was a
pleasant surprise.
It was not too long ago that
another Native American ad-

dressed an Arab convention
and told them that the plight
of Native Americans was
similar to that of the Palesti-
nians. My concern was that
there would be a rise of anti-
Semitism among Native
Americans.
I hope this event means a
more tolerant outlook among
their various nations.
